Overview of Role Purpose
Within Amcor Specialty Cartons group, Product Development (PD) has the important role to translate customer product requirements into technical specification, and to provide relevant information/documentation to production locations to enable them to order and use the correct tools and materials needed for New Product Introductions (NPI’s). By creating a smooth technical connection among Customers, Sales and Operations, PD’s responsibility is to guarantee successful NPI’s with long-term cost efficiency, on-time, and in full compliance to customer’s expectations.
The Product Development Manager Asia (PDMA) reports to General Manager, ASCKS & Operation Plus; Safety; Product Development, Asia (or equivalent role), and leads the PD & PrePress team in the region, making sure we have the correct organization, process and objectives in place, to effective deliver PD’s responsibilities according to customer’s and Amcor’s expectations. Global alignment is also key for success, and the PDMA must guard and reinforce the use of Amcor Global Standard processes, working closely with Global Technical Account Managers (GTAMs), as much as other regional PD leaders and Global Manufacturing Team. PDMA also drives Amcor’s Innovation agenda and support regional Sales team on Customer events such as QBR’s, together with Regional Technical Account Managers. This position requires as well close alignment with specific Customer R&D, Quality and Supply Chain teams.
Finally, PDMA also acts to foster collaborative relationship with suppliers from a technical perspective, specially tooling suppliers, making sure Amcor Procurement team will have PD support on technical discussions, reducing risk of leakages to Amcor and supporting the definition and implementation of effective continuous improvement activities (CI).
