Position Summary: The Specialist, Private Equity Group Advanced Research (PEGAR), is responsible for identifying, evaluating and onboarding alternative data (AD) tools and sources in support of client and internal case teams and practices. The responsibilities also include codifying the use of these tools, coordinating information and resource sharing, and training of AD tools.
Core Responsibilities and Duties
Alternative Data Asset (AD) Building
Evaluates AD tools
Identifies, explores and evaluates potential AD sources / tools
Coordinates with APAC PEGAR and /or RDS team members in AD vendor evaluation and tool trial
Collects feedback from the APAC Private Equity PEG and RDS teams on effectiveness of current AD tools
Meets regularly with PEG stakeholders and Global RDS AD team to review new source leads and to report on usage of current AD tools
Manages contracts
Participates in contract negotiations
Manages legal review of contract terms
Maintains close communication with Global RDS Resources Senior Director to ensure consistent vendor onboarding practice
Manages monthly chargebacks and payment
Assists in assessing forecasted tool utilization and cost recovery
Contributes to successful deployment of new AD tools
Disseminates information on new AD sources, including compiling and contributing monthly PEGAR newsletter to the APAC PEG and RDS teams
Conducts training on AD tools and use cases for the consulting and RDS teams
Develops training contents as required
Organizes ad hoc vendor-led training sessions
Contributes to implementing and training of automated / template-driven output across the RDS team
Identifies opportunities to market new AD tools across regional RDS and PEG teams
Regularly updates information repository on SharePoint of all regional AD vendors, including but not limited to, vendor contacts, marketing materials, methodology documentation, subscriber lists and training documentation
Research Support
Serves as an expert advisor to colleagues regarding existing and new AD tools
Utilizes AD tools for research projects and advising PEG and /or other corporate case teams
Tracks personal research requests including cost recovery information
Position Qualifications
Advanced Degree with strong academic credentials in Information Science or Business Administration preferred
Five + years of business research experience, preferably in a consulting, financial services or other professional services environment
Ability to manage by influence in a matrix organization
Training and presentation skills required
Fluency in English and one of the Southeast Asian languages
Experience in building strong customer relationships
Self-starter
Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
