The role of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) is to advance the interests of Australia and Australians internationally. This involves strengthening Australia’s security, enhancing Australia’s prosperity, delivering an effective and high-quality development program and helping Australian travellers and Australians overseas.
The department provides foreign, trade and development policy advice to the Australian Government. DFAT also works with other Australian government agencies to drive coordination of Australia’s pursuit of global, regional and bilateral interests.
About the Media, Public Diplomacy Scholarships and Alumni Section
As part of the Media, Public Diplomacy Scholarships and Alumni Section, the Public Diplomacy Unit designs public diplomacy campaigns that engage, educate, inform and influence our audience and stakeholders; resulting in strong people-to-people and institutional links that enhance Australia’s influence, reputation and relationship with Indonesia. We do this by projecting a positive and contemporary image of Australia as a destination for business, investment, tourism and study.
The Public Diplomacy Unit provides strategic advice and operational support related to public diplomacy campaigns. We seek to work closely with our Indonesian stakeholders and collaborate on public diplomacy projects that build influence and create shared understanding.
About the position
Under the general direction of First Secretary (Public Affairs) and Counsellor (Media, Public Diplomacy Scholarships and Alumni) the Public Diplomacy Officer contributes to the efficient, responsive and effective management of information and coordination across the Public Diplomacy team.
