Job Description

The Empl & Client Comms Lead is a seasoned professional role who should be able to integrate subject matter and industry expertise within a defined area. Contributes to standards around which others will operate. Requires in-depth understanding of how areas collectively integrate within the sub-function as well as coordinate and contribute to the objectives of the entire function. Requires basic commercial awareness. Developed communication and diplomacy skills are required in order to guide, influence and convince others, in particular colleagues in other areas and occasional external customers. Has responsibility for volume, quality, timeliness and delivery of end results of an area. May have responsibility for planning, budgeting and policy formulation within area of expertise. Involved in short-term planning resource planning.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with partner groups and Global Public Affairs colleagues to develop integrated external Communications strategies that support franchise-wide priorities and business line specific programs, including press conference, media briefings, media visits, media pitches, etc.
  • Develop press materials for external communication purposes, including but not limited to fact sheets, press brief, press release, backgrounder information.
  • Together with partner groups develop thought leadership pieces, talking points and briefing packages for media interactions.
  • Coordinate efforts to cultivate and manage relationships with key media partners
  • Ensure effective communication cascades and channels that distribute targeted information at the franchise, business line and local team level
  • Maintain and update engagement platforms including the website/blog and official social media accounts.
  • With review by senior staff, design and distribute all mass email communications including the E-newsletter and promotions.
  • Coordinate design work, as needed and time permits, to ensure a consistent brand.
  • Source, develop, and ensure relevance of content for various channels.
  • Support development events by participating in event planning, carrying out marketing/communications plans, and providing day-of event support.
  • Support colleagues by providing back-up assistance, as determined by Public Affairs Officer/Country Head of Corporate Affairs.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Qualifications:

  • Have 6 to 10 years of experience in the field of communications, public relations, and/or media relations.
  • Experience coordinating communication related projects i.e. event management,
  • Experience in issue and/or crisis communications
  • Basic analytical and problem solving skills, including issue identification and prioritization.
  • Basic project-coordination skills.
  • Ability to achieve results with general supervision.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Experience successfully interacting with key stakeholders.
  • Ability to collaborate to achieve results.
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task efficiently and respond to a high volume of ongoing requests in a timely fashion. Strong organizational skills required.
  • Ability to continually develop skills related to use of rapidly changing technology and communications best practices.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt and be flexible in a dynamic work environment
  • Demonstrated success in helping to market to and engage culturally diverse audiences and partners.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel required.
  • Familiarity with other software, such as Adobe Creative Suite, a plus.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s/University degree, Master’s degree preferred in the field of communications, journalism, international relations, and/or economic or business.
