Title: SEIS School District Liaison (SDL)
FLSA Status: Exempt
Reports to: School District Liaison Coordinator
Salary: SEIS SDL Scale
Purpose: The purpose of the School District Liaison is to collaborate with school districts, host
agencies and SEIS staff so that students can make a successful transition into SEIS with
appropriate services in place, and can make a successful transition from the SEIS program to the
student’s next educational setting.
Essential Functions:
Communicates with and supports districts with convening Team meetings to develop,
propose, and implement appropriate IEPs consistent with applicable timelines and
regulations
Review IEPs and communicate with responsible school districts regarding services SEIS
cannot provide
Refer school districts to ESE website and resources for needed technical guidance
Ensure completed IEP planning notes and progress reports are sent to districts
Ensure districts address Transitional Planning at IEP team meetings by ensuring that the
team discusses students’ vision, transition assessments, post-secondary goals, and if
appropriate, the need for a 688 referral
In select cases, communicate with districts regarding required student coursework that
SEIS does not provide and coordinate a plan for district provision of such coursework
Work with the Host Agency Coordinators to support their role in facilitating teacher
communication with districts regarding student progress
Coordinate transmission of appropriate SEIS educational information to districts for
purposes of host agency discharge planning
Create, obtain, and maintain accurate and up-to-date records in SEIS student information
system, including all student records, consistent with SEIS protocols and contract
requirements.
Maintain up-to-date electronic calendar.
Coordinate with host agencies and districts on school district providers’ access to
facilities for purposes of student evaluation, observation and special education services
Maintain a statewide list of related service providers available to contract with school
districts, and notify districts of those providers on the list who are available to contract
for particular services that neither SEIS nor the host agency provides
Attend and participate in Team meetings and host-agency convened meetings for
purposes of coordination with the school district
Follow established timeline and protocol for escalation of issues to SEIS leadership and
ESE Problem Resolution System
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain professional standards and up-to-date knowledge of trends in special education
practices and services
Collaborate and communicate effectively with all stakeholders, including districts, ESE,
CES, and host agency personnel
Maintain professional boundaries and standards with students and others, consistent with
CES and SEIS policies
Actively participate in professional development.
Develop and maintain a personal Educator Growth Plan leading to continued licensure
Provide support for administration of statewide testing, and ensure the level of security
and confidentiality as outlined by ESE
Use all SEIS resources according to established policies and procedures
Assist with annual inventories of all resources
Assume any additional responsibilities as directed by the SEIS Contract Administrator
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree from accredited College or University
Massachusetts teacher licensure required
Proficiency in the use of technology
Strong communication and problem solving skills
Ability to multi-task and prioritize work effectively
Ability to interact effectively with diverse population
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Committed to social justice and equity for students and adults alike.
Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle required
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree from accredited college, Masters Degree desirable
Special Education license
Physical Demands:
Ability to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office equipment,
including using a computer and other office equipment.
Frequently communicate by phone, face to face, email, and video conference with SDLs,
teachers and coordinators throughout the state.
Must be able to communicate and converse effectively in real time with youth and adults
from multiple backgrounds and cultures.
Must maintain situational awareness, including awareness of student activity and
communication in a fast-paced secure institutional setting..
Must be able to use traditional and digital instructional technologies.
Required to be mobile in use of technology, including use of assigned laptop in varied
sites and locations
Working Conditions:
Considerable driving throughout the state
Will often work in locked settings with high security for students and staff
May be reassigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed, within two days of a
vacancy arising in another program
Terms of Employment:
CES/SEIS school calendar; Monday through Friday, 190 days
Requires an 8 hour work day
