At Caterpillar’s Indonesia Batam, we manufacture Hydraulic Shovels products used in building the infrastructure and mining to move materials that makes a better world.
Caterpillar’s Manufacturing Engineer position works both independently and as part of a team to maintain and improve processes and systems used in product manufacturing. You will learn and provide expertise in Fabrication areas of the manufacturing process to ensure the most efficient and cost-effective manufacture of product.
As Fabrication Manufacturing Engineer , you will apply engineering principles and practices towards improving manufacturing processes. You may be directly involved in the development and production process or providing advice and recommendations when needed. Experience shall consist of the design, application or operation of welding facilities that fabricate welded products. Fabricated products may be covered by international, customer, or internal standards or specifications.
As the Manufacturing Engineer for Fabrication, you will:
Read, understand and relate the engineering drawings to fabrication sequence and process.
Develop fabrication working instructions, c overing lifting practice, ergonomics, workmanship standards and process documents, and ensure they are followed.
Fully participate as required in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), and Process Failure Modes Effects Analysis (PFMEA) activities where fabrication operations are required.
Adheres to established standards, policies and practices relating to quality, cost reduction, safety, ergonomics, Caterpillar Production System (CPS) transformation etc., in performing assigned duties.
Performs research, design, and development of manufacturing processes including production flow, assembly methods, jig/fixtures required, and production equipment.
Estimate fabrication times, manning requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
Assigning tasks to technicians, monitor teams to investigate failures, resolve technical issues and ensure the integrity of design.
Identify ways to reduce production costs through recommendations like new process design, equipment justification to improve performance.
Propose and lead Green Belt fabrication improvement project through Six Sigma methodology.
Periodically review Design Drawings and Bill of Materials and highlight deviations and changes faced in fabrication of products.
Performs other duties as assigned.
The successful candidate must bring:
Fluency in English.
University degree in a Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering-related degree.
3D design proficiency using design software like Creo, SolidWorks, etc.
Able to read mechanical drawing and understand GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)

Internship experience in the fabrication of large steel structures company or industries.
Additional Information
Shift: Regular Full Time 7.00 AM - 3.45 PM
Work location: Batam, Kepulauan Riau
You will work both in office and manufacturing shop-floor environment.
